I remember talking to a man doing it tough. But to look at the spirited expression on his face whilst he rubbed his hand through his newly cut hair, doing it tough was the furthest thing from his mind. He truly was thankful for the opportunity to connect with the many services in attendance on this day – he didn’t have to talk over the phone to a ‘service officer’ or stand behind a grey counter, but rather this connection you could argue was on his turf – there were no barriers. We were all equals sharing and learning from one another. Moving stuff!
On the other side of the coin the opportunity to discover, learn about and connect with other service providers within our community was simply inspiring. There are so many individuals and groups who day after day contribute enormously to the many essential support services that are critical to a progressive society.
