Providing dignified help to people who are experiencing homelessness as a result of domestic violence has become easier than ever.
Seraphine Cafe at Maitland Art Gallery has recently joined the Connecting the Hunter program. The cafe now provides meals and drinks via a referral voucher system from Carrie's Place Domestic Violence and Homelessness Service.
"I think that we are all happy to help, we just don't know where to start" says Jenny Benning from Seraphine Cafe. "Joining the Connecting the Hunter program makes it easy. We value ourselves as a community café and we are happy to help local people who are doing it tough.”
They have also implemented a Pay it Forward system, which local customers are encouraged to contribute to. Pay it Forward vouchers are now available at Seraphine Cafe for amounts between $5-$20.
